The High Line.

"Parks in large cities are usually thought of as refuges, as islands of green amid seas of concrete and steel. When you approach the High Line in the Chelsea neighborhood on the lower west side of Manhattan, what you see first is the kind of thing urban parks were created to get away from—a harsh, heavy, black steel structure supporting an elevated rail line that once brought freight cars right into factories and warehouses and that looks, at least from a distance, more like an abandoned relic than an urban oasis."

This is the beginning of the great article by Paul Goldberger that you can read here.

And you can also "visit" the High Line thanks to this time-lapse video by photographers Diane Cook and Len Jenshel, and senior producer Hans Weise.

Images and text from National Geographic.

Tonight.

Tonight is a very special festivity. Here we call it "revetlla de Sant Joan" (something like "Saint John's night festival"). So long ago it was held on June 21 to celebrate the summer solstice.
People gather around a bonfire when the sun sets, have dinner and a typical dessert named "coca" (like flatbread pastries). The typical drink is cava (catalan sparkling wine).

Our group of friends are going to celebrate it at the beach, as usual. There's a little village near our city that is hosting a party at the beach with some ska and reggae music bands. We're going to chill out there all night long, and maybe have a really quick bath under the fireworks!

These are some pictures of how could our night be like. Have fun!

'weathery' pictures.

It's been raining a lot these days; and last night there was a very brave storm. Even it wasn't a beautiful night, there are really good photographies of these weather phenomena.

Memories of Paris.

Last weekend I went to the cinema. I had heard some good reviews of the new Woody Allen’s film “Midnight in Paris” and wanted to check it out myself. I’m not going to say a word, in case someone hasn’t seen it yet, it’s just fabulous!

When I got home I started thinking about the whole story and remembered the times I’ve been to the City of Light. I’ve been there five times; the first one was when I was less than two years old and I went with my mum and grandma to visit my dad, who was there for bussiness. I also went there when I was 9, 14 and 16 years old. The last time was two Christmas ago, when I was 21; my French family (my dad’s mother is from Paris) was hosting a party. I really like this city, each time I’ve found more and more interesting places to visit and it has a special harmony.

And that’s the reason I’m posting these amazing photos of Paris. I was looking through Flickr the other day, and came across this French guy who has stunning pictures of this gorgeous city. I’ve selected some of my favourite pics. His name is Adrien and this is his Flick and his website.
