Antique and New connections.

The other day, as we were walking through the old city centre of Girona because of the Temps de flors exhibition I came across a beautiful antique building from the XVI century.

It’s the Esteve Arrufat house and it was restored and designed by architect Anna Noguera. Some added parts were demolished in order to improve the architectonic qualities of the old construction. Anna Noguera emphasizes spaces, light entrances, textures, colours… with her new contributions and unique details.

The old house has been converted into two modern appartments. (Alemanys5)

In the first floor: the “Garden appartment” which has a private garden and a pool.

In the second and third floor: the “Veranda appartment” is a duplex with awesome views to the old city centre.

I really love the way the antique and the new parts converge. The use of different materials (stone, wood, steel) and how they've been mixed empowers the beauty of the construction itself.

So happy you came across my blog! Yours is amazing - I have only scrolled down thru the first page and love it! haha :) I am posting that Nada Surf song to my FB feed as we speak. Glad to hear I'm not the only one who feels this way about the boy issue... :-p
